The 1st of April arrived for our Friday Night Lights game against Old Hales. After last weekend’s weather we were hoping that it would be a balmy spring evening but sadly it wasn’t to be. In fact it was rather blooming cold but that didn’t dampen the girl’s spirits as they arrived ready for a great evening of rugby. Although it did get some chuntering from the spectators!

It was great to play Old Hales again especially as it could be the last time some of these girls will play against each other. Some of them have know each other for many years, whether that be in opposite teams or playing as team mates at County level or Centre of Excellence.

On the pitch, they are rivals. Off the pitch they are great mates and we have no doubt they will remain friends.

We really want to thank them for another great game and wish all their players and our players who will be leaving to go onto various Womens or University teams, all the very best. A special mention to Karen from Old Hales, who is apparently stepping down as team manager as her girls move on (we’ll see!!!). She will be missed (if she’s allowed to go) and to Emily the ref who was once again brilliant.

The score didn’t go our way but they were all winners when they got together in the clubhouse for curry, gossip and a few beers for the coaches and parents till rather late.
Thanks Old Hales. We’ll see you next season.
