Worcester Girls Under 18’s v Hucclecote/Old Richians

It was a very wet and windy Sunday afternoon that saw the Girls Under 18’s take on a mixed team from Hucclecote and Old Richians over on a very squelchy Cummins pitch.

Despite the weather and the mud, the girls spirits weren’t dampened as they took control of the game right from the off. The first half was fast paced with some great tackling, rucking and mauling. The girls played fantastically as a team and the slick way they passed the ball down the line was testament to this as four try’s were grounded in the first half.

At half time Worcester were 22 up and after a quick drink and team talk, the second half continued at the same fast pace. Hucclecote/Old Richians gave our girls a good run but just could not break through our defence. Unfortunately the ref stopped the game 10 minutes in due to an injury to the opposition and the miserable conditions she was lying in. Thankfully the player is fine, we wish her a speedy recover and look forward to seeing her on the pitch next time we meet.

Although the girls were disappointed that the game ended early, they had a great afternoon. They came off the pitch smiling, they all shook hands and had team photos taken. Then, much to the delight of all the parents they went and rolled around in the mud!!!!!!!

A big thank you to our coaches, Steve, Tom and Danny and to our first aiders who got as muddy as the girls this afternoon while administering first aid.

Final score

Worcester 22 - 0 Hucclecote/Old Richians

The final score did not reflect what happened on the pitch. It was a great game to watch and we’re looking forward to a return match in a few weeks time.

We can’t go without thanking our referee Emily who stepped in at the 11th hour so that our game could go ahead. She was fantastic and we’re looking forward to her reffing us again.

Thanks to Charley and Adia who turned up on such a miserable afternoon to support their teammates even though they have injuries and can’t play at the moment. Their support, encouragement and commitment is really appreciated by their teammates.

And last but not least, thanks to Ellie, Adia, Evelyn and Mia who cleaned both of the very wet and muddy changing rooms. They did an amazing job and left them immaculate.

Parents, do not let the girls tell you they don’t know how to clean!!!!! I’m expecting reports of tidy bedrooms at the next training session.

PS, Parents, please take note. WRFC and the Girl’s U18’s managers and coaches do not accept any responsibility for the state of your washing machines!!!!!
