Chinnor/Banbury V Worcester Girls Under 18's
Chinnor/Banbury 5 - Worcester 50

This Sunday afternoon saw us travel to Banbury RFC for a game against an opposition of mixed Chinnor and Banbury girls. We had a fantastic afternoon both on and off the pitch.

Chinnor/Banbury were a really hospitable team who gave our girls a run for their money and the final score didn’t reflect the game. They made our girls work hard for their victory.
The skills shown from both teams was just brilliant to watch and with each team playing rolling subs throughout the afternoon, the pace and enjoyment of the game for both players and spectators just kept giving.

We wanted to say a very big well done to Ella, Emma and Lucy who all played their first game with us and were fantastic. They had a real baptism of fire with regards to the mud. They've been left with no doubt about it being a winter sport!

It was great to see Adia and Rosie travel all that way to support their team mates even though they are currently injured. Their support and coaching was great and Rosie looked after and introduced Danny the Dinosaur to the girls. He is now officially our team mascot.

We can't go without giving Aleki a special mention, who so very kindly 'volunteered' to be a touch judge.

Worcester girls won the game that afternoon 50 - 5 with El's, Heidi, Fern, Ellie, Gabby and Ala all scoring trys and with Tilly, Millie and Ellie converting. Ellie's conversion prompted many comments after the game from her team mates, parents, the oppostion and the ref as she chose to drop kick it over the posts. This came as a surprise to the ref and he commented that in all the year he has been refereeing, he has never seen a player do that.

It really was a great afternoon of rugby. The final score went Worcesters way but everyone was a winner that afternoon. The smiles on both teams faces as well as all coaches and parents is what it's all about, especially Heidi's smile as she was given Worcesters Player of the match at the end of the game by the Chinnar/Banbury players and coaches.
Thank you Chinnor/Banbury for hosting us and we really are looking forward to a return game soon.
