Dan Clay, our current Treasurer, is stepping down at the AGM in June after 3 years at the helm.  

We are looking for his successor.  

If you have a financial background and want to be part of this amazing rugby club, get in touch.  We would like to hear from members and parents.  The brief for the role is below.

WRFC Honorary Treasurer

This is a leadership and governance role - guiding the work of the Management Committee and Club with the support of the Club’s accountants and the Club’s bookkeeper.

The Treasurer will be a full voting officer of the WRFC Management Committee.

The Treasurer will be supported by a part-time bookkeeper and the services of a local accountancy firm who will provide high level support and advice and, in conjunction with the Bookkeeper, operational support.

The Treasurer will be responsible for:

  • Financial and process improvement at the Club to deliver an efficient, best practice finance function.
  • Financial governance including the formation of financial safeguards and authorised spending limits.
  • With appropriate Officers planning, approving, overseeing and reporting commercial, investment and expenditure decisions.
  • Overseeing the timely and accurate processing of payments, invoices and associated record keeping.
  • The presentation and interpretation of monthly and annual WRFC and Bars Ltd* accounts.
  • Reporting End of year accounts to the Members at the AGM and submitting the WRFC annual report and accounts to the FCA and RFU.
  • Overseeing Tax compliance and associated matters.
  • Advising the Management Committee and members on best practice, compliance and key financial developments.

Day to day transactions will be handled by the Bookkeeper and accountants:

  • The bookkeeper will, against coded and approved invoices, pay bills on behalf of WRFC.
  • The bookkeeper will with the support of our accountants produce monthly statements which the Treasurer will present and explain to the Management Committee.

As a senior officer of the WRFC the Treasurer will be expected to participate in occasional other Club activities e.g. deputising for the Chair and overseeing special projects.

This is a voluntary role, and the Treasurer must be a paid-up member of WRFC. Officers of the club are appointed annually at the AGM by the Members. *Bar ltd produce their own accounts
