The first home match of 2024 was played on pitch 4 on a cool January afternoon against Shipston on Stour.

This was a game of two halves, Worcester had their usually slow start, but unlike other games it took 9 minutes before Shipston scored, they followed this up with another try soon after. Worcester seemed sluggish and unable to execute their normal game plan, giving away silly penalties. Shipston scored another try before Worcester got a lifeline with s score right at the end of the half.

Half time score Worcester 5 Shipston 21.

I don't know what DJ Pete said at half time, rumour has it he changed his music on his play list or did Manager Liz put something extra in the oranges but it was a different second half. Worcester played with a new desire and vigor, slowly and surely they inched back into the game. A solo try from Shipston number 9 was their only score, while Worcester added a further 3 tries. The final score was Worcester 22 Shipton 28. It would have been interesting if there has been 5 minutes more to play as Worcester were in the driving seat. Again there were good performances and thanks to the players who were substituted on and off during the match so everyone had a half a game.

Coaches overall were happy, with plenty to work at over the remainder of the season.
