As if winning their league (Midlands 2) with 2 games to spare wasn’t enough, Worcester RFC & the Women’s team have ANOTHER reason to celebrate with news that Jazz Rampton, 19, has been called up to play for the Jamaica 7’s team.

Jazz is flying out on April 18th to the Bahamas for the Rugby Americas North Sevens Qualifiers tournament. This is a qualifying tournament for the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in Cape Town, South Africa in September, along with The Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham in July. It’s her first time playing in a major qualifying tournament but is hugely looking forward to the opportunity. “Everyone is very supportive and happy for me! I can’t wait!” said Jazz.

Giving some background on the call up, Jazz said “I’ve been around the set up before but never played & then I got a call from the manager of Jamaica asking me to get involved again and play in the next RAN tournament. And then halfway through the Worcester season I got a lot more confident and got involved again. Now I’m off to Carribbean!” (More info on the tournament can be found here https://rugbyamericasnorth.com/ran-sevens-qualifiers-schedule-announced/ )

Women’s Lead Benny Williams said “We are all really proud of Jazz getting her call up for Jamaica. She’s been exceptional for us this season and she’s still incredibly young. She’s got bags of potential and I’m excited to see how she goes in the tournaments. I know the whole club will be backing her all the way.”

Club Chairman Stephen Lloyd enthused “What a magnificent achievement by a fine young woman and incredible rugby talent. Now she is being recognised on the international stage it’s just reward for her efforts, application, commitment and talent. All of us are extremely proud to be associated with Jazz and we wish her every success on her first step into the international game. Top Work Jazz!”
