Worcester RFC Women Win League at a Canter!

Our Women’s team has won their league (Midlands 2) with 2 games to spare. So far, they’ve won 12 from 12 with a points difference of +445 and 12 bonus points, 12 points clear of their closest rivals Sutton Coldfield.

With 2 players in double try scoring figures for the season (Jasmine Rampton (18 tries) & Evie England (11)), never conceding more than 25 points a game and scoring an average of 48 points, Worcester Women have so far dominated the competition.

Women’s Lead Benny Williams said “I probably can’t put into words how proud I am of the group to win this league. It’s been a real team effort from players, coaches, medical and club personnel. Considering we have only revived the women’s team at Weston’s this year I feel it’s a massive achievement for everyone. The links we have with Worcester Warriors and the University of Worcester has been pivotal in the success of the team. We set out to make sure there is a rugby offer for everyone in the area and I think we have achieved that. We have some quality young players coming through and I’m looking forward to seeing how they develop over the next coming seasons. Overall, this has been an incredible season and I’d like to thank all the team and those that have supported us

Club Chairman Stephen Lloyd enthused “What a remarkable season our Senior Women's team has had. Full of joy, passion, skill and application. The team have responded to the coaches input and the result is to be league champions before they season’s end. An incredible achievement. All of Worcester RFC are proud of our fantastic Women and they should be rightly proud of themselves. We are lucky to have them represent our club & our city and especially in our 150th year. Just brilliant!”

To celebrate the club will be holding a ‘Cheer On Your Champions’ event on 3rd April, their last home game, Vs Sutton Coldfield. Guests and sponsors are invited to a special pre-game lunch to celebrate the team’s success. Tickets can be bought now at https://worcesterrfc.rfu.club
