Bournville 17 - Worcester 7 | Sunday 12th September

Worcester Colts travelled to Bournville RFC for their first away match of the season. 

Worcester got off to a great start when Will Meredith took a high ball in his own half., going on a solo counterattack, dodging defenders to score the games first try under the posts. Converted by Will Dunnaway.

Later in the first half, Bournville Kicked a penalty to the corner. Scoring out wide from the resulting line out. The conversion bounced off the posts leaving Worcester in the lead at 5 - 7.

Both sides put multiple phases of attacking together, but strong defences from both sides prevented further scores. Will Dunnaway's try-saving tackle saw the end of his game, coming off injured.

In the dying seconds of the firsts half, Worcester gave away a penalty. Bournville took a quick tap and scored under the posts. The conversion gave Bournvill a 12 - 7 lead at halftime.

The second half followed the same themes as the first. Great attacking play from both sides matched with a ferocious defence, real end to end rugby, it was a joy to watch.

Bournville broke the deadlock with a well-worked try, the conversion once again bouncing off the posts, giving Bournville a 17 - 7 victory.

Even in defeat, Worcester improved on last week's winning performance and looked for more points right up to the final whistle

Nick Waddington, Worcester Coach was quoted as saying “Despite the result there we even more positives that came out of this weeks game following last week’s win over Old Yardlieans especially with a few late team changes in the last 36 hours before kick-off. The lineout operated much better and our defence was much more focused which was a testament to the hard work that the players have been putting in at training and I know they will want to get back to winnings ways with this Sunday’s next league match at home against Alcester”
