The next rubgy at WRFC is our Summer of Touch 2021.

We have had the most fantastic take up. These are going to be HUGE Friday nights.

Where, When and How

The Summer of Touch will run for eight weeks (Covid restrictions dependant) on Friday nights between 2nd July and 20th August 2021.

Teams will be 10 players with six on the pitch at one time, with unlimited rolling replacements.

Each team will play one match per week.

Society young referees will be officiating.

All matches will be played on Westons pitches with easy access to our fabulous clubhouse.

There will be two league formats, one competitive and one for fun and laughs.

Entry has now closed but do come down to watch*

Fingers and toes still crossed, we're hoping spectators will be allowed. We've missed you all this year. Even if you don't want to play just come along, support our players, have a beer and catch up - it would be brilliant to see you again*.

What are the rules?

Basics are:
6 players on each team. Max squad 10

The attacking side has 6 chances to score before the ball is turned over to the defensive team.

The attacking side must pass the ball backwards and scores by placing the ball over the tryline.

To stop the attacking side, a defender has to touch the player with the ball. Once a touch has been made, the attacking team performs a roll ball (placing the ball between their legs) and the entire defence must retreat 7m.

After 6 touches, or if the attacking team drops the ball at any point, the ball is turned over to the other team.

Pitch size is half of a normal pitch

What about dinner?

Don't worry, we've got you covered. Why not bring the whole family? The clubhouse will be open with it's legendary Friday night menu. Rugby, food, drinks and snacks what else do you need on a Friday night?

* Obviously, subject to RFU and UK Government Covid restrictions. Dates and covid safe restrictions to be confirmed. Once we know, we'll let you know. He's to a post-Covid future and getting back to the new normal.
